What is sedge (or seagrass)?

Sedge (or seagrass) grows naturally in the coastal regions of Southeast Asia. For our products, we mainly use sedges grown from fields that were previously flooded by the sea, making them unsuitable for rice cultivation. The sedge grows well on saline soils and even helps to clean them. Once harvested, the plant is dried in the sun making it an ideal stiff yarn for weaving or braiding beautifully varied colored products, such as baskets and mats.
